Mosaic Making

Italian culture is exemplified heavily in their mosaic making. Mosaics around Rome represent Christian iconography and Bible stories such as the ones displayed in Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica. On June 12, 2019 we made mosaics that represented Roman culture such as the symbol for the republic of Rome and the colosseum. Mosaics are made by gluing marbles on wood; its glued down with a water base. The marbles were cut to match the spacing of the mosaics given as an example.
